Brazilian-born Jim Nakao is a fashion designer and creative director.  His intricate and architectural paper dresses were displayed at the Paper Fashion exhibition in MoMu in Antwerp, Belgium. At the end of the show, the models ripped themselves out of their dresses (as shown in video).

Coupled with that hair style and crisp make-up, I am sold.

46 seconds of my life were well spent watching how pretty this video is.

I’m not usually keen on the 80s aesthetic, but, man, do I have a soft spot for these stylized Patrick Nagel prints. He would start with a photo and then remove “unnecessary” elements until the image was flat. He is very well known for the album art he did for Duran Duran’s Rio (<3333) and, unfortunately, died in his 30s. The last one is my favorite.

Happy Birthday, Dovima.

Born Dorothy Virginia Margaret Juba, she was an original supermodel and the muse of one of my favorite photographers, Richard Avedon (photos above), who said “She was the last of the great elegant, aristocratic beauties… the most remarkable and unconventional beauty of her time.”

Just imagine if today’s fashion photography was more like this from Mark Shaw. The simplicity and shapes really sell the garments, if you ask me. Pure elegance.

Where Am I?
